Words diminish, fall short, as I recount the beautiful day in May when Kevin and Elizabeth said I do.
Over the past year, San Antonio has become increasingly familiar.
And the people… with open arms and heart’s warmer than the temps, have endured themselves to me.
It is safe to say, this place is quickly becoming a second home.
Here are some highlights from the Blair’s beautiful day.

The amazing Alamo Heights United Methodist Church.

Here you can see Elizabeth’s Bridal session at the St. Anthony Hotel.

Cap City Band was outstanding!  Loved working alongside of these guys!

Kevin and Elizabeth… thank you for the gift of your wedding.  You are a wonderful couple with an incredibly bright future!  Many, many blessings!

December’s Engagement session with Courtney and Cody was all fire, even in frigid temps.
Their Spring wedding at Brik Venue, did not disappoint.  This stylish venue offered a beautifully clean and unique backdrop for their nuptials.
Fun, Star Wars, and candle light framed in green was the vibe of the day.  What a day it was!

Delighted that Weddington Way has decided to use the following image to
showcase Courtney’s Bridemaid dresses on their website!

Courtney and Cody, thank you for hosting such a fun wedding!  I loved being there on your day!

Blogging is something I love doing.
I love showing my favorite highlights of a wedding.  A portrait session.  An engagement.
However, it often becomes the last thing on my to-do list, because Client galleries, products and personal life often leave time only for single images shown on Instagram or Facebook.
In recent months, I’ve stepped out of working full time in ministry, and stepped full time into telling of God’s love for us, through my lens.
It is a blessing and a tremendous gift, each and every time, I’m privileged to partner with Him in photographing love.

Carleigh came to me through Gateway Church, as many, many blessings have.  When we first met, she was still praying and dreaming of the man who would win her heart.  Her beautiful heart.
She is truly one of the kindest, gentlest, sweetest people I have ever met.  Instantly, I felt compelled to join her in praying for her spouse.  A rare gem like her deserved a happily ever after and a man who would treasure the gift she is.

Not long after, she met Scott.  Right away, I knew something was different.  She was different.  She was falling in love.
They courted.  Yep, the old-fashioned kind of way.  They were intentional, seeking counsel and reading books like Kari Jobe’s book, The Right One, to make sure they were choosing wisely.
And I believe they did.

I was there for their proposal and bridals (yet more blog posts I haven’t done, sorry folks!), wedding and day after session (all of which I WILL blog shortly).  I’m so honored and delighted to have been chosen.  Here are a few highlights of their amazing evening wedding at The Piazza in the Village in January.

The sun had set by the time their ceremony began.
Low, ambient light, framed their union.
Worship filled the space.
It was beautiful.

THIS – was Carleigh’s first EVER kiss.

Carleigh & Scott, congratulations.  I’m so happy that you chose each other.  And you chose me!
Many blessings and happy years.

With love and gratitude,

Kate

Today, I had a smack my head moment.  I received a wedding inquiry from a lovely couple, whose wedding will be at Lost Mission next year.  They had seen my work on Instagram and loved my style.  I was delighted to hear this, so I wanted to send them a link to my work at that beautiful location.  When I went to find the Swain wedding, shot last December, I panicked:  I never blogged this amazing day.  This perfect couple!!  How could I have been so remiss?!?  SMH.  🙁

So, I immediately went to work selecting my favorite moments of their day.  There aren’t words really, for how beautiful these two are inside and out.  But as you’ll see, they never stopped smiling all day.

Brandon and Katherine: you are the happily ever after story.  I’m so grateful I got to play a small part in your day.

Adrenaline still pumping, endorphins surging, I’d just photographed my first beach wedding in Cancun, Mexico (I love you guys: Katy & Hank!).  And I was on cloud 9.  Guests took turns walking down the aisle, as rows dismissed.  Cheeks red, pained from my giddy-grin.  They approached me and I’ll never forget her smile, salmon color dress and his warm and engaging approach.  Surprisingly, he said, “when it’s our turn, you are our photographer.”  That’s quite a way to introduce yourself.  Something you don’t forget.
That was 3 years ago… and I’ve been waiting ever since.
Then, recently… Sherrie shows up in my inbox.  Swearing me to secrecy till they told family and close friends.  But here it was:  their turn.  And I was their photographer.
Enchanted Rock has been its namesake, only from afar till now.  I’ve been waiting for that adventurous couple, not concerned with perfect hair or a few beads of sweat.  But after the moment… the storytelling images.
Willing to make the climb.
Well, it was their turn.
This was their choice.
I was their photographer.  So up we climbed.
Sherrie & Taylor:  you were so worth the wait.
(and the climb.)
See you next month.  Once again…
I.
Can’t.
WAIT.

With gratitude,

K
